The challenge

Thinking beyond traditional sales methods, the Maasai Mart seeks to use emerging technologies to establish an e-commerce platform for tourism products and services. The technology will help local vendors and tour companies to establish an online presence, thereby expanding the business for youths with a physical business setup and empowering youths who cannot afford a physical business setup.

The solution:

The main objective of the platform is to help local vendors and tour companies to register and have their products and services have presence on the online market thereby expanding the business for youths with physical business setup and empowering youths who can’t afford a physical business setup.

The platform will enable the following: creation of online profile of local vendors and tour companies; online product orders; online service inquiry; online products and services catalog, real-time alert of offers and discounts; online sales; tracking of products and services trends.

For local vendors through using this platform they will reach cross border and international market of their products and services which by now is limited only to a local and physical purchase. Thus, linked with the theme to develop and encourage linkages between young people and economic opportunities.
